Contrary to a popular myth around hypnosis and the hypnotic state, you do not lose control at all!
Throughout every step of the process you are fully aware, able to speak, hear, understand, have thoughts and be present.
You will also not do anything you do not want to do, nor will you share anything you do not want to share. You have full control and free will, even in the deepest levels of hypnosis.
After you first session, you will have a much clearer understanding of what being in the hypnotic state known as trance is like for you, and you may find it easier and easier to reach these deep levels of relaxation each time.
The South African Institute of Hypnotism offers us the following insight into how permanent the results from hypnotherapy can be:
"Once an idea has been fully accepted by the subconscious mind it will remain. That is partly the reason why it is so difficult to overcome habits. For example, the smoker may have the subconscious belief that smoking the cigarette will relax him, reward him, or will help him to overcome shyness when with other people – then these beliefs are fixed and it can be extremely difficult to override these programs with willpower and discipline. Therefore, if a new idea is fully accepted and there is no contradicting belief system, it will remain for good."
You want to ensure that the person you trust with your personal concerns has had professional training, is bound by a Code of Ethics and preferably belongs to a reputable umbrella organization.
Natasha is a certified hypnosis facilitator - CPTF (nm), trained and accredited by the South African Institute of Hypnotism (SAIH), and has to provide annual CPE points to the association (Continuous Professional Education).
Most members of the South African Institute of Hypnotism have been trained through their affiliated Mastermind Training centers. This training has been provided since 1998 and this long track record speaks for itself.
When contacting a practitioner for sessions, you can ask all relevant questions which a reputable person will not hesitate to answer in detail and to your satisfaction. It is very important that you feel comfortable with your practitioner of choice.
Hypnotherapy is an exceptionally fast acting modality.
Depending on how well you respond to hypnosis, how you integrate the learnings from your session and the extent of your desired change work, you can achieve your desired result in as little as a single session. However it's best to work on a minimum of three sessions. The first session will include an in-depth consultation on your desired change, whereafter it will be much easier to determine how many further sessions will be needed.
The conscious mind is the lens through which you view the world around you and determines how you interact with it. It is awake, alert and constantly scanning your environment with the intent of making sure you're safe and avoids what you do not like or what you feel threatened by and giving you more of what you do like and makes you feel good. Your "Critical Faculty" is the conscious mind filter that is constantly assessing your reality for these things.
The question to be asked is: what determines how the filter works - who determines what is good and bad? The answer lies in your sub-conscious mind.
Your sub-conscious is the vast warehouse of your entire lived experience. Every thought, every memory, every experience is stored there (from within the womb and, for those who believe in re-incarnation - even before the womb). Through the course of our lives certain experiences can create a programme that runs in us in the background permanently. We are not consciously aware that it's there and what that programme does is inform the filter (the conscious mind) on how to behave, respond or react to life around us. Alot of the time these programmes started running at a time before we can remember, let's say between birth and the age of three or four, as a protective or supportive mechanism usually in response to a powerfully emotional experience.
So you might ask me "But Natasha, if I KNOW I don't want to behave this way or think this way, why does it happen anyway?" Because there is very likely a programme that is running in your sub-sconscious that is no longer needed. Which is how hypnotherapy works. We tap into the sub-sconscious mind so that you can release those programmes that you know are no longer working for you.

Yes. We are working with the power of your inner wisdom - your subconscious mind. As long as you have set your space up for a session as per the guideline above, you will have just as good a session as you would have had in person!
